About Me

Hi, I’m Rebecca (most people call me Bec). Welcome to Sen & Sea.

Several years ago, my yoga teacher asked me to be a case study for her as she was studying and practising Thai Yoga Massage. Having always been drawn to massage, I literally jumped at the chance to lie on a floor mattress for a blissful two hours. This was my first experience of this unique and wonderful healing therapy, and I was absolutely blown away. I left her studio feeling so many wonderful sensations; physically open and stretched, mentally present and connected in my own body, deeply relaxed but also energised and balanced in a way I had never experienced with any other type of massage. It was clear to me that this was massage on a deeper level than the purely physical and I loved it.

So …. a little while later, I began studying with the amazing Kira Balaskas at The School of Thai Yoga Massage in London, where I qualified as a Thai Massage Practitioner. Since then, I have continued to expand my learning and experience of Thai Massage with Kira in several workshops and advanced modules and have received training from the brilliant Bob Haddad, author and highly experienced Thai Massage Teacher and Practitioner, in his UK workshops.

Alongside Thai Massage, I have been practising yoga for over 12 years and in 2021, I gained my 200 hour Yoga Teaching qualification. My yoga practice is the perfect complement to my massage work, helping to prepare my body and mind before and after treatments and through its awareness of the importance of breathwork for calming the nervous system.

Recently, after 30 years of living in Berkshire where we raised our family, my husband and I were lucky enough to land, quite by chance, in the beautiful area of the South Hams in Devon where we now live. It is from here, in a calm and dedicated space in my home that I see my clients.

It was always a dream of mine to live by the sea and now I am here, I have become a keen wild swimmer. Starting the day with a chilly dip in the company of friends is a new-found passion.

I chose the name Sen & Sea as it reflects my love for the sea. The sound and rhythm of the name is like the ebb and flow of a smooth, even breath and the sense of balance it evokes suggests movement; the free flow of energy through the ‘sen’ (channels) all around the body.

I look forward to meeting you.
